Keyboard Troubleshooting Guide
What is Ghosting?
Ghosting occurs when your keyboard fails to register a key press because multiple other keys are pressed simultaneously. This is common in cheap office keyboards when gaming (e.g., holding W + Shift + Space).
N-Key Rollover (NKRO)
High-end mechanical keyboards feature NKRO, meaning you can press every single key at once and they will all register. Use this tool to test your keyboard's limit by pressing as many keys as you can with your palm.
How to fix a broken key?
- Clean it: Use compressed air to remove dust/crumbs under the switch.
- Reseat the keycap: Pull the plastic cap off and press it back on firmly.
- Software check: Ensure your OS keyboard layout (e.g., US vs UK) matches your physical keyboard.
Pro Tip: Testing Modifiers
Always check both Left and Right Shift/Ctrl/Alt keys. They send different key codes (e.g., ShiftLeft vs ShiftRight) and often break independently.
